Disney On Ice, Monster Jam Celebrate Reading

 

Kids who read 5 or more books will receive one free ticket to see Disney On Ice or Monster Jam in September

Disney On Ice presents Frozen & Encanto and Monster Jam have partnered with Atlanta area public libraries on a reading program that is easy and fun for kids to participate in and gives them the opportunity to earn a free ticket to Disney On Ice presents Frozen & Encanto or Monster Jam, with the purchase of one adult ticket.

Children are encouraged to visit their nearest participating Atlanta Public Library to pick up a Disney On Ice presents Frozen & Encanto or Monster Jam Reward Club Card that includes program specifics.

Once five or more books have been read, the child and their parent/guardian can take the Reward Club Card to State Farm Arena’s box office for Disney On Ice presents Frozen & Encanto and redeem for the following performances: Wednesday, September 21 at 7:30 PM, Thursday, September 22 7:30 PM, or Friday, September 23 10:30 AM.

For Monster Jam, parents/guardians can take the Reward Club Card to Gas South Arena’s box office and redeem for the following event: Saturday, September 10 at 7:00 PM.

Monster Jam visits Gas South Arena from September 10 – 11 and tickets can be purchased online at AXS.com or in-person at the venue box office. Members of the media should visit here for hi-res photos and video.

Disney On Ice presents Frozen & Encanto visits State Farm Arena from September 21 – 25 and tickets can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com or in-person at the venue box office.

Mirabel tells the tale of her amazing family and her journey to save the casita, her enchanted family home, alongside her sisters: Isabela, whose perfection radiates with her ability to make plants grow and flowers bloom with every step, and Luisa, with the gift of super strength that she uses to help her village move buildings and reroute rivers.

For the first time live, fans can witness Tia Pepa, who can control the weather with her emotions; her husband Felix; their daughter Dolores, with her gift to hear; and Bruno, the mysterious and misunderstood Madrigal family member whose visions foretold the future.

In the end, audiences will learn that everyone has their own gifts, magical or not, and being true to yourself and loving those around you is what makes you special.  YOU are the magic!

Frozen, Disney's Hit Musical!

 

Happy Sunday friends.

It's starting to get HOT here in North Georgia.  Almost to the point where my mind (and body) automatically say, "Don't go out there."  You know - that kind of hot weather.

It's time for swimming pools, lemonaide, popsicles, and lake parties.

That's why I was so happy to see Frozen, Disney's hit Broadway Musical come to The Fox Theatre in Atlanta this week.

Frozen opened Thursday night, and I was able to catch their second performance Friday night.  It was so good to visit Arendelle - a FROZEN Arendelle.  It was a great break from the Southern heat.

All my friends were there - King Agnarr and Queen Iduna, Anna, and Elsa - just to name a few.  I also ran into Olaf, Kristoff, Svan, Oken, and sadly even - Hans who still showed up even after so many years of losing the battle.

Frozen will play in Atlanta through June 12.  There are still quite a few performances left, and you really should go see it (even if you don't have littles - I'm an empty nester, but dedicated Disney fan).  Our audience (I'm guessing because it was a Friday night) was filled with so many sweet littles - mostly in their white Else gowns or their sweet Arendelle Anna dresses.  It was fun to have so much excitement and buzz in the theatre.  There was a soft murmur throughout the night from little ones singing along or asking their parents questions.  I loved that.  (We had one Anna behind us, and as we were walking to our car, four little Elsas were posing for pictures in front of the Fox for their Moms.  Super cute!)

If you've ever seen any of Frozen's TV appearances or YouTube videos, you know how wonderful this story is live.  Our publicized Anna and Else were out due to a Covid case, but our fill-ins were SUPERB and perfect.  (Honestly, I was so happy we got to see Caelan Creaser as Elsa and Berklea Going as Anna.  Please follow their Instagram acounts.  They are amazing actresses that don't always get stage time.)

Speaking of the actors in this traveling troupe, I want to give a little heads up here for those of you taking your littles to see the show.  Disney is famous for their diversity practices, and Frozen proves to be no exception.  The characters you see on stage will not reflect the ones in the movies.  King Agnarr is African American.  Queen Iduna is Asian, and both Anna and Elsa are Asian as well.  All four actors are SUPERB in their roles, and honestly, a great actor can transcend race to make you forget all about the animated versions of themselves.  I only mention it here because your littles may not understand.

Frozen is true to the story line of the movie (someone did mention to me that they thought this musical gives a nod at the beginning to Frozen 2), and all your favorite songs are included.  Do not blink during Let it Go or you may miss one of the biggest gasps of the evening.  Sometimes theatre just blows your expectations away - Frozen does this quite a few times when showcasing and highlighting Elsa's powers.

The stage sets are amazing, the costumes beautiful, and the presence of Sven is magical!  When Sven debuted during our performance, the entire theatre gasped and then cheered and clapped.  This is why I love musical theatre - it's so real and so genuine.

Frozen run abouts two hours long with an intermission.  Our show started late, but try to be on time as most theatres will hold you back for opening numbers if you are not on time.  Frozen will play Tuesdays through Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sundays at 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Also keep in mind this is a very popular show.  Our show was packed, and the lines to get in were extremely long even 45 minutes after doors opened.  Parking is ample around The Fox Theatre with most lots costing between $20 and $30 for the evening.

So what are you waiting for?

Georgia is growing hotter each day, and though you may love summer like Olaf, it is such a nice break to visit Elsa inside her frozen castle and Arendelle in the winter.  Besides that, Oaken has some nice things to help keep you warm!

Disney on Ice's Frozen Lights Up Atlanta!

Welcome to Arendelle!

Yes, Frozen's fictional Norwegian town came to Atlanta this week, and you still have time to visit it this weekend.

Before I give this brief review, let me state up front - we were 30 min. late to the production due to the horrendous traffic in Downtown Atlanta.  When we arrived, we found we were not the only ones late; this show is PACKING in the crowds - our show looked to be almost completely sold out.  So, all that said - please make sure you leave in plenty of time for travel, traffic, and parking.

As with all Disney on Ice shows, as you enter the arenas you are bombarded with Disney music and souvenirs.  Included are all types of assorted Frozen paraphernalia, so come with deep pockets or an iron will power - items included the obligatory snow cone cups and cotton candy items along with Frozen dolls and t-shirts.

This Disney on Ice show follows the movie pretty much to a "T."  You will know definitely know all the words and music.  Each time a new character from the film arrived onto the ice, cheers ERUPTED from the crowd.  One of my favorites was Svan.  Who doesn't love this reindeer?

As with all Disney productions, quality is top of the line -- fantastic ice skaters, costumes, lighting, and special effects.  (If you are lucky enough to sit on the lower level, snow falls from the ceiling for most of the show.)

As I stated above, the ice show primarily follows the movie script, so children will know when each song is coming.  One of the highlights of the show is, of course, Elsa singing, "Let it Go."  As the scene started coming together, you could feel the rumbling in the air and hear all the children starting to murmur with excitement.  Before you knew it, the first few notes of, "Let it Go," played, and the whole arena erupted in cheers and screams.  I was sandwiched in between three little girls who sang from beginning to end at the top of their lungs (mostly off-key, but grinning profusely the entire time).  It is definitely hard to hold back tears when you are faced with magical Disney moments like this!

Another favorite part of Disney on Ice for me is the bookending they do with core Disney characters.  Since I missed the front end of the show, I was ecstatic to see Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and a host of other Disney characters close out Frozen.

One other character note:  While Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff have been in the Disney Parks for a while now, this is the first time we are treated to Svan, Olaf, Hans, the trolls, and even the Duke of Weselton.  Nice to see all them in person!

Other fun effects include pyrotechnics during some scenes along with those scary wolves chasing Anna and Kristoff through the woods (yes, the wolves are on ice too)!

Overall, this Disney on Ice show is fabulous.  It doesn't travel far from the movie script, and that is good since all of America has seen this movie way too many times to count anymore.  It is a fun day or evening out for the whole family.

I mean, who doesn't enjoy a good sing-a-long combined with a Disney on Ice spectacular?
