Discover Mills, Atlanta’s largest outlet, value retail, and entertainment destination will host a Master Build Event to create an 8' tall model of SpongeBob SquarePants entirely out of LEGO bricks.

Hundreds of LEGO enthusiasts will participate in building this giant free-form LEGO display in the Food Court at Discover Mills from Friday, November 4 through Sunday, November 6.  Children are also invited to get involved and can receive an official LEGO SpongeBob SquarePants Certificate of Achievement for helping, while supplies last.

Gamers of All Ages Get a Sneak Peak of the Hottest New Video Games, Compete in Challenges, Win Prizes and More

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA (August 1, 2011) – Demonstrating yet again that no retail venue other than a mall can offer top-level entertainment and experiential fun, Discover Mills, the largest outlet and value retail shopping destination in Atlanta, will host the 2011 Simon GamePlay tour on Saturday, August 20 and Sunday, August 21, connecting fans of all ages to the hottest video games before they are officially launched and available in stores.

Simon GamePlay, powered by Coke Zero, will take place exclusively in 26 Simon® properties around the country. For the third consecutive year, GameStop (NYSE:GME) the world’s largest multichannel video game retailer, is the retail partner for Simon’s GamePlay. Mike Dzura, senior vice president of stores for GameStop noted, “GameStop is always looking for ways to share the excitement of video gaming with the community, so we are thrilled to be a part of the Simon GamePlay Tour again in 2011.”

The free event will launch on Wednesday, August 10, in Miami, and wraps up Sunday, November 13 in Ontario, Ca. Last year, more than 900,000 gamers across the country participated in Simon GamePlay.

For the super competitive, Nintendo offers “Street Pass,” an opportunity to show off video skills in tournament-style play using Nintendo 3DS devices. GamePlay will display all of the action on two flat screens so shoppers can cheer on participants as they compete for the highest score.

The tour also offers 10 gaming pods, including two mature zones, with a variety of products from leaders in the video gaming industry, including 2K Play, Capcom, Eidos, SEGA, Namco-Bandai, Warner Brothers Interactive, THQ, 2K, Atari, and Edios/Square Enix.

Kids get a chance to enjoy being creative with food at FREE family event

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA (May 5, 2011) – Give kids a chance to play with their food, and they just might make a masterpiece! That’s the thinking behind Super Duper Mini Chefs, a free culinary event at Discover Mills on Saturday, May 14 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. in the food court.

Hosted by the Simon Kidgits Club®, Super Duper Mini Chefs combines demonstrations with hands-on activities that encourage kids to have fun and get creative.  Activities at Discover Mills include the Stir Crazy Chopstick Game, chef hat creation, seed pot designing and cookie decorating. Plus, all Simon Kidgits Club members participating in the event will receive a free Kidgits® apron.

Kids also will learn to give back to the community by bringing a non-perishable food item for donation to local food banks.

“The Mini Chefs event is a great chance for kids to roll up their sleeves and have fun with food,” said Teresa Holloway, director of marketing and business development at Discover Mills. “We love providing the community with family friendly events where both parents and kids can have a blast.”

Radio Disney’s “Minnie’s Masquerade,” a fun Disney-themed event to celebrate the recent DVD release of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Minnie’s Masquerade. Kids will experience plenty of fun with the Radio Disney Road Crew, including Minnie’s Masquerade Character Challenge, Minnie’s Masquerade themed music and a Minnie’s Masquerade MASK make and take craft area. With Easter fast approaching on Sunday, April 24, Discover Mills and its popular Simon Kidgits Club® will hold its Breakfast with the Easter Bunny celebration on Saturday, April 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the food court.

There will be plenty of fun for parents and children alike as all Kidgits Club members will receive a complimentary Easter bucket filled with goodies.  Plus, other Easter activities will include a Peeking Bunny craft and Easter placemat weaving.

A complimentary breakfast will be served for members of the Simon Kidgits Club.  Breakfast will be $2 for parents of Kidgits Club members, and $5 for all other guests.  Please RSVP to Teresa Holloway at tholloway@simon.com no later than Sunday, April 10 and include how many Kidgits members, parents, and other guests will be in attendance.

And of course no Easter celebration would be complete without a visit to see the Easter Bunny. WHAT:            Discover Mills invites families to celebrate Easter with the opportunity to meet the Easter Bunny!  Parents will be able to purchase professionally produced photos of the Easter Bunny with their children or the entire family.

Plus, Simon Kidgits Club members are invited to attend a special breakfast with the Easter Bunny on Saturday, April 16 from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m in the Food Court.  Enjoy arts and crafts, and Easter activities for the whole family.  This event is free for Kidgits members, $2 for parents and $5 for non-members.  Not a Simon Kidgits Club member?  You can sign up at the Mall Management Office or online at www.SimonKidgitsClub.com. $5 annual fee applies.
