Disney on Ice Dare to Dream Plays Atlanta's Philip Arena through Tomorrow!!!

To receive these deals daily, sign up for our **FREE** e-mail newsletter or subscribe via RSS. If you'd like a printable copy of this post, please see the link below. Thanks for visiting!

Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to witness a truly magical and fantastic ice show by Disney.  It was called, "Dare to Dream," and it was incredible.  (Would you expect anything less from the famed Disney?)

Here's a brief description of the show from Disney:
This year, Disney On Ice presents Dare to Dream. Experience Disney’s hilarious hair-raising escapade, Tangled, as Rapunzel, her unlikely companion, Flynn, and Maximus, embark on an uproarious journey that takes adventure to new lengths!  Boogie to the beat of the bayou with Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen in a magical, musical journey that all begins with a fateful kiss.  And fanciful dreams become reality as Cinderella meets her Prince Charming, with a glass slipper fit for an unforgettable fantasy come true. All your favorite princesses take to the ice in a spectacular finale at the ultimate Disney Princess event of a lifetime!

I hate posting this review so late, but family matters dictated it!  That said, I hope you will still be able to go and see this show.  It plays through tomorrow (Sunday, 10/16) at Atlanta's Philip Arena.  I would venture to say that even if you have boys, take them!

It's Disney, so there is no shortage on Magic (and mayhem).  The show takes you through the story of three of Disney's most famous Princesses - Tiana, Cinderella, and Rapunzel.  You will be amazed at what Disney can do on ice.  From bringing Tiana's famed New Orleans to life (including the ever-delightful and my favorite villian - Dr. Facilier) to Cinderella's horses and carriage (yes, it was really there and on ice) to Rapunzel's amazing Cirque du Soliel-like flying act--you will be amazed.

The show is two hours long with a brief intermission half-way through, but honestly, you will never notice it is two hours.  It flies by!  The first half is all of Tiana's story and half of Cinderella's.  After intermission, Cindy's story is wrapped up, and Rapunzel's is told.

As a special added bonus, to introduce the show at the beginning and after intermission, we were treated to the Fab 5!  Yes - Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald, and Goofy are all here and along for the ride guiding you through the evening.

Each Princess' story is told, of course, in an abbreviated form, but you will still get the entire story line - villians and all.  The best (and most touching) part of the night was when a small child was picked from the audience and given a chance to help Flynn Ryder and Rapunzel lift the first lantern into the air just like the characters did from their small rowboat in the movie.  From there, the entire ceiling of the arena is lit up in lanterns, much like the movie. Such an incredible Disney moment....

(To see a video of this, visit Field Trip with Sue's facebook page and scroll down until you see the video.)

To wrap up the entire two hours of Magic, as is Disney's custom, a grand finale was in order (small pyrotechnics and all).  All the Disney Princesses came out!  All the Princesses were escorted onto the rink with their Princes and all were wearing beautiful (and sparkly) white gowns.  As a cherry on the top, Mickey and Minnie came back out too decked in their white outfits.  Each pair of Prince and Princesses were introduced, and it was nice to see ALL the Disney Princesses included (i.e., Mulan).  As a final touch, small fireworks were set off from the Castle.  Very nice touch to the end of a perfectly MAGIC evening.

To find out about prices or tickets, you can visit the Philips Arena facebook page.  Remember, this event is only in town through tomorrow, and you will not want to miss it!

I love when Disney comes to town....

Win Disney's Tangled on DVD!

To receive these deals daily, sign up for our **FREE** e-mail newsletter or subscribe via RSS. If you'd like a printable copy of this post, please see the link below. Thanks for visiting!

Have you seen Disney's movie Tangled yet?  If not, here's a great chance for you to win a copy!  At first, I was a little skeptical about a new Princess coming yet again into the Disney fold, but being the huge Disney fan I am, I took myself and my 14-year old son to see Tangled opening weekend.

Can I tell you that I loved this movie?  Even my teenage son laughed at parts of the movie (no small feat for a boy teenager seeing a princess movie with his Mom)!  (The horse is priceless.)  Tangled turned out to be a great movie, and I immediately pre-ordered it from the Disney store.

In case you missed out on the whole Repunzel story growing up, don't worry.  Here's a brief plot snippet from Disney's Tangled facebook page:
Disney presents a new twist on one of the most hilarious and hair-raising tales ever told.  When the kingdom's most wanted - and most charming - bandit, Flynn Rider, hides in a mysterious tower, the last thing he expects to find is Rapunzel, a spirited teen with an unlikely superpower - 70 feet of magical golden hair!  Together, the unlikely duo set off on a fantastic journey filled with surprising heroes, laughter and suspense.
To continue the Disney Tangled fun, here's an interactive "widget" you and your kids can play with and enjoy.  With the widget, they can discover hidden talents they didn't know they had (such as being an aspiring artist or a chef) or if they feel crafty, Rapunzel can lead them along the way.  They can also find decorating tips by Claire Keane, daughter of Tangled Director and Animator Glen Keane, who will share tips on how they can decorate their rooms to look just like Rapunzel's!

But back to the contest, and how one (1) of my lucky readers will win not only the DVD of Tangled but also a bonus promotional surprise (picked at random) -- a Pascal beanie baby, Flynn Ryder and Rapunzel t-shirts, or an official Disney paper lantern!

Each reader will have the opportunity to enter up to seven (7) times.  Just leave a separate comment below this post for each item you do or complete on this list.  Each comment you leave constitutes an entry into the contest.

If you have already done some of these (from previous contest entries), please leave a separate comment saying that.
  1. (Mandatory Entry) - What is your child's hidden talent?  (From the widget above.)
  2. Follow Debbie's A Day Late and a Dollar Short on facebook (or box on the left)
  3. Follow Debbie's A Day Late and a Dollar Short on twitter
