This past Wednesday night, my family and I were invited to go and see Disney on Ice's production of Toy Story 3. Having never been to a Disney on Ice show before, I was beside myself with excitement as I was finally going to have the chance to see one.
I picked up my teenager from school early, waited on the younger one to get home and off the bus, and then packed everything up and headed downtown. If you've never been through downtown Atlanta during rush hour, you really must try it....no, just kidding....avoid it at all costs!!
Feld Entertainment had invited my family, along with several other local Atlanta bloggers, to a special pre-show event before Disney on Ice started, and I didn't want to miss it or be late! Despite the Atlanta traffic, the boys and I arrived at CNN Center/Philips Arena on time, picked up our tickets, and made our way inside.
Once inside the arena, we were directed to a private room upstairs that was decked out in bright Toy Story primary colors. It was very festive with balloons, confetti, and
food! (The boys were in food heaven.) During this special preview time, we were also treated to a private audience with Buzz and Woody! Yeah! Here are a few pictures from the pre-show event:

Bright balloons welcomed us. |

Confetti and coloring books decorated the tables! |

After hearing from Feld Entertainment representatives and meeting a few other bloggers, we made our way
down (way down) to the seats we were assigned to get ready for the main event. To add to the night's excitement, Feld Entertainment had surprised all of us with rinkside seats! (If you read this blog regularly, you know how "frugal" I am....I've never sat this close to
anything!) It was a-maz-ing....

Time for the show to begin...what can I say? It's Disney--it's Toy Story--it's a slice of Americana. You can't go wrong with this show folks. It's all three Toy Story movies combined into one; it's a dash of Miley Cyrus; it's a patchwork of American music history; and it's Disney. Did I already say that?
If it's a Disney production, you know it's going to be quality, and this Disney on Ice show did not disappoint. The show ends up being about two hours long, with a brief intermission in the middle, and there are brief moments of darkness and a little smoke, but nothing that would scare the little ones. All your favorite characters from Toy Story are in this ice show (even Zurg) -- Buzz, Woody, Jessie, Barbie, Ken, Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head, Slinky, Rex...they're all here - in "life-size" form!
They ice skate and portray the story beautifully, and I saw several kids dancing throughout the show. It's a lot of fun, and if you liked the three Toy Story movies, you will love this show just as much. The show is currently touring around the country, and you can visit the
Disney on Ice website to see when it is coming to your area. (Tickets for the Atlanta shows started at just $14!) I would highly recommend this show to any family. Young or old, this show was a lot of fun for everyone. (My husband, who has not yet seen Toy Story 3, cracked up when they accidentally reset Buzz into Spanish mode!) Here are a few more pictures. To see my entire set, you can visit my flickr page in a few days (when I'll hopefully have them processed and posted)!

To see if Disney on Ice's Toy Story 3 is coming to a city near you or if you would like to buy tickets, you can visit the
Ticketmaster website. It's a great family night out and a good value for your entertainment dollar. I don't think you'll regret going to see this show!
*A special thanks to Feld Entertainment and Sue R. for inviting us to be a part of this very special evening!
I so wish we had met that night! I saw you there during the before show activities, but never got the chance to introduce myself. Next time, definitely.
ReplyDeleteThe show was fantastic. My kids were blown away (as was I!) with how close our seats were. What an awesome opportunity!
So glad your family had such a great time!
Awww, Angie. I'm sorry I missed you too Wednesday night. I only knew a handful of people there, but that's the way it always happens! You end up "knowing" people after an event!
ReplyDeleteNext time, yes-definitely we must meet!
My kids liked the show too (even my teenager, but I don't think he'll ever admit it)! I am so grateful for the opportunity we had to go!
