A First Post Finds a Restful Place

Thursday night, 6:53 p.m.--hmmm...that seems like a good time, a good day, and hopefully, this is a good place.

The house is semi-quiet, so I thought I would attempt to check off the first item on my Summer To Do List - START A BLOG.

My friends have been encouraging me to do this for a while, and honestly, with a full plate, I wasn't sure if I could handle it. I knew there would be (and there is) a learning curve, and I just didn't know if I had the time or stamina to attempt it.

However, over the past couple of months, I have been meeting (and thoroughly enjoying) many new bloggers. I've read blogs from old friends that I used to go to Church with, I've read blogs from women I work with, and I've read blogs from "virtual" friends that share a common love of all things Disney!

Each one brings their own unique talents to the table, and each one enlightens me with every posting they write! Some post recipes, some post fun things to do, some post good deals, and some post on plain 'ole everyday things! I've loved them all.

If you are reading this and you know me at all, you know I facebook. I facebook A LOT. Night and day, day and night. Whenever I get the chance. I love facebook. It's my "outlet," let's say.

However, after posting a note on there a few months ago about one of the many deals I've stumbled across, one of my friends sent me a message and encouraged me to post these notes in a blog form. Ever since then, I've kept the idea in the back of mind. My goal was always to attempt it "when school was out." (I teach 4YO pre-K at a local private school.)

Well, now, it's summer, and I need to quit procrastinating and check Item #1 off my list for the summer!

So, that brings me to this post! I am finally attempting this blog thing. I have no idea how long I'll tackle it or how current I can keep it, but I AM going to try!

I've been saving a particular picture for this "historic" first blog post. A picture I took late one night as I walked into my bedroom and found my little boy sound asleep, on an unmade bed, with "his" cat, Tiger, snuggled up close to him. It was such a peaceful moment and so full of love that I HAD to snap away!

What makes this picture so special is the bond Josh & Tiger share.

Tiger's Mother (Cupcake) was a neighborhood stray. She had her kittens on Easter day 2003. We couldn't find the kittens for nearly a week. When we found them, Josh (then 3) took to carrying Tiger around everywhere (picture Rafiki holding up Simba at the beginning of Lion King). It was really funny. We would all burst into "The Circle of Life" whenever Josh carried little Tiger (the runt of the litter) around the house.

I guess all that carrying around left a mark on Tiger because to this day, there is no mistake that he is hers! Glance at the picture, and you'll see what I mean.

I knew when I saw the picture, I would save it for my very first blog post. So, there it is, and there you have it!

The picture AND my very first blog post.

Thank you for stopping by! Please come back soon and often, as I hope to have many more stories, deals, and good things to share!
