Amicalola Falls Park

It only just occurred to me to post this little tidbit of information.

Did you now that all Georgia State Parks are **FREE** on Wednesdays? Normally, there is a $3 charge (per carload) to enter state parks, but on WEDNESDAYS, they waive the fee!

My family has the wonderful privilege of living fairly close to the North Georgia Mountains, and for the past two summers, we have been taking full advantage of this free play date with them!

There are some gorgeous parks in North Georgia, one of them being Amicalola Falls. There is so much to do there when you take a deeper look.

Last year, they offered creek wades every Wednesday at 3. The Rangers would take the kids (and adults who wanted) into one of the creeks armed with buckets and nets and teach them what organisms lived in the creeks and how they could find and catch them. Wow! That was a lot of fun!

They switch up the activities often, so it's always a good idea to check with your particular park to see what is being offered over the summer months.

Amicalola Falls has 600-step climb that we like to do each week. At the top, you can wade and play in the creek that leads to the falls or drive up to the top and picnic. It's a great climb, with plenty of rest stops (for

those of you "over the hill" like myself) with a beautiful view to reward yourself when you are done! (One time, we were even lucky enough to see a mother black bear w/her two cubs crossing the road!)

One Wednesday this summer, take the time to get out and experience the great outdoors and one of Georgia's amazing State Parks!
