Okay, I am off the beaten path again, but it's so worth it....
Over the past seven months, I have been learning how to coupon, how to save money at the grocery store, and how to find a lot of really good retail deals out there.
If you know me, you know that I am CHEAP. Yep, DIRT cheap. (I once had an Uncle that would make fun of me for driving an extra mile to save $.50...Whatever!) Anyway...that sort of gets my point across...I like to spend as little money as possible on anything I buy....
Take my family vacations, for example.
My big blow-out trip every year is Walt Disney World--I go the same time every year--OFF SEASON; I wait until they offer **FREE** food (yes, Disney does give away some things [more than you think actually] for free); and I book my room at one of their VALUE resorts.
The Disney vacation list goes on and on....but you get the point!
I also host the Disboards' "official" Disney's Best Kept Secrets thread--I can tell you some fascinating secrets about Disney World (i.e., do you know why the pavement is YELLOW in Liberty Square in some areas?)!
Bottom line for these two factoids--I am cheap; I try to do the very best I can at the very lowest prices in town; and I do A LOT of research on anything I do.
It's my flaw (if you follow me on facebook, you are bound to have seen one of my more recent [yes, I know I post a lot...] postings from today).
...I wanted to change my twitter background, and because of this nagging personality flaw of mine, I wanted [no, I needed] it to be PERFECT....and to get what I had equated for PERFECT, I was going to have to take on a huge learning curve! Something this girl did not have time for today! In the end, I ended up doing A LOT of research on a subject I knew nothing about!
Suffice to say (and I can't impress this upon you enough)--when you take something on--do the very best you can and do A LOT of research on your subject matter.
When I first started posting deals, finds, and sales on my facebook page, friends of mine began saying, "You should start a blog. You have so much to say!" (Yeah, well--we all know, it's a habit of mine--rambling...I blame it on being Italian...)
...but, A BLOG? What in the world? Why should I start a blog when I can just "facebook?"
Well, after much prodding and procrastinating, I took the jump a few weeks ago. As usual, I jumped in with both feet and created the best I could for a newbie...and then, I created a 2nd one for my BFF's husband!
Before I knew it, I was hooked! This blogging stuff is a lot of fun! BUT...there has to be more right? You will find that the more you blog, the more you read, and the more you read, the more you LEARN.
That is when I discovered Andrea over at Mommysnacks.net. Not only is she a girl with a robust personality (just follow her on twitter and you'll find out what I mean), but she writes a mean grocery blog!
I also discovered that Andrea is still a "newbie," of sorts. She has only been blogging for a little over a year now! Wow.
That amazes me because Andrea's blog is doing fabulous! She has come a long way in a short amount of time!
The reason I am telling you about Andrea is not only for her awesome posting powers (although they are awesome), but also because she has written a series of posts about starting your own blog. I haven't read all the posts yet, but what I've read so far have been easy to read and I did not feel like anything was over my head. Andrea breaks down her subject matters about starting and maintaining a blog into easy and understandable bites.
If you are thinking of starting your own blog or if you already have one, I would like to encourage you to read Andrea's blogging series and check out a few of her posts. I think she is on the money with what she's saying, and I know she can help you create the best blog possible.
After all, I know her series is what I needed...I needed A LOT of research and I needed it to be PERFECT! Thanks Andrea; you really helped me out!
