Great New Way to Get Shoes to Haiti

Hi guys,

I'm breaking up my normal deal postings to post about something ultra important - the crisis in Haiti.

As it goes with blogging, you read one blog and it, in turn, leads you to another one and so on and so on.  A few days ago, I was lead to a wonderful crafty blog called, The Idea Room.  I liked it so much I ended up subscribing to it.

Today, when I went to my iGoogle page, I saw that Amy's post was based on something she had discovered on ANOTHER blog from a company called RecessionistaRecessionista is a website that believes, "a woman should never be forced to compromise quality or style due to a slumping economy.  Likewise, we believe that a woman should never overpay."

(That's the only teaser I am going to give you for Recessionista.  To see more about them and to check out their website, you will have to click on the links!)

Now, back to tying together The Idea Room, Recessionista, and Haiti....

To make things easier and to cut down on my inability to tell a SHORT story, here is a quote directly from Recessionista's blog:

"We are honored to join forces with Soles4Souls, an organization dedicated to providing a way for all of God’s children to walk with covered feet, something that comes so easily to most of us. We believe in their mission and purpose. Likewise, we believe that by giving, we will become better people and a much better business. We have specifically collaborated with the 50,000 shoes project headed by Jessica Simpson, Ken Paves and Cacee Cobb. Together, we hope to accomplish this goal to provide 50,000 shoes in 50 days to the victims in Haiti.

While this is no small feat, we are confident that with your help we will succeed. We ask that you post the jpeg flyer on your own blogs and websites, post the new Recessionista/Soles4Souls button as well, and spread the word through facebook, email and twitter. The Internet is an amazing tool and can be used to spread so much goodness.

Our contribution: For the next 50 days, we will mark down all of our shoes to incredible prices and, reduce every item in our shop.  For every shoe purchased, we will donate a shoe directly to Project Haiti up to 10,000 shoes. In addition, 20% of all our non-shoe sales will be donated as well. We encourage you all to help in any way you can. We thank-you in advance for helping and express our sincere gratitude for making our first 3 months online amazing. Someday, we’ll pull an “Oprah” and provide free shoes to everyone! Until then, we can start by sending shoes to Haiti."
So, what do you think?  Incredible, right?

I am doing my part by spreading the word through my blog, facebook, and twitter accounts.  And, I hope that if you are reading this, and you have a blog, facebook, or twitter account, that you will do the same.

It's hard to believe that this little website and blog are only three months old and have accomplished so much!  It just goes to show you that if you believe earnestly in something and have faith, just about anything can be accomplished.

I hope you will take a minute or two to surf over to Recessionista and see what they have in their on-line shop.  Just by buying one pair of shoes, you can make a difference in the world we live in.

Until later,
