Recognize this woman? Yep, you guessed it--It's none other than the infamous Jane Fonda.
Like her or hate her, one thing that can't be denied is her impact on fitness in the 80s. Her videos (and that famous pose) kick-started and sky-rocketed America's love with being physically fit. (Who could forget those leg warmers?)
Well, Jane is at it again. Next month, on Saturday, May 1st, our hometown Atlanta girl will host World Fitness Day at the Georgia Dome, and I've been invited by another local blogger, Sherrelle (i.e., Funkidivagirl), to be one of the bloggers covering this event. (Sherrelle is the Ambassador Blogger for World Fitness Day.)
As some of you know, I recently signed up to do the 1st Annual Food & Wine Festival 5K at Disney World later this year with several other Disney/Mommy bloggers...and if you know me, you KNOW I am lack in any area of physical fitness! So, to get my old self in shape, I have taken to walking 3 miles every day after work with several of my co-teachers.
Which means--when Sherrelle approached me about this event, I couldn't wait to jump on it! Not only am I excited to be attending and seeing top physical fitness personalities (like Richard Simmons, Billy Blanks, and Denise Austin), but I'm also excited to be LEARNING about physical fitness from people like Dr. Sanjay Gupta (from CNN) and of course DANCING to the likes of The Pointer Sisters and Ludacris ("How Low Can You Go")!
Let me encourage you all to check out World Fitness Day if you live in the Atlanta area or within driving distance. Sign up is limited (the event will be capped at 3,000 participants), but you can register at any time through their website.
If you can't attend the event, you can still participate in the mega workout session by watching it via uStream or on facebook.
Great post; sounds like an awesome event! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI know! I am so excited! Can't wait to see all these people in one place and LEARN from them!
