Okay...I don't have a picture to go with this blog post, but this post will probably be one of the more important blog posts you'll ever read from me.
I was on my way to bed when this blog caught my eye. It was a blog post by a Mommy Blogger. The blog is, "I am Mommy." When I saw the title of her post, I had to click on it to check it out. The title? YOU'RE GOING TO FREAK OUT.
Well, I clicked and I did - freak out, that is. I know that all sort of privacy websites are out there. They abound, but when someone points you right to one, it's sort of alarming.
So, to thank I am Mommy for passing the buck on to me, I am now passing the word on to all of you. You NEED to go to this website (and you need to go right now while you are reading this): Spokeo.
Without mincing words, here is a direct quote from I am Mommy's website:
"RIGHT NOW, enter your name and see if your personal info is listed.
If so, scroll down to the VERY bottom and click on "privacy" to request to remove it.
It is a clearinghouse of info and may include:
A MAP OF YOUR HOUSEI don't go to very many of these websites, so I don't know if this is normal. However, I was alarmed at just HOW MUCH information was on here. There is A LOT of personal information on this site. One (i.e., humorous) thing that sort of bugged me was that it said (for me), "Neighborhood: Below Average."
YOUR BIRTHDATE
YOUR CHILDREN'S NAMES
YOUR SPOUSE'S NAME
Huh? What? I mean, I know I don't live in a million-dollar (or heck, even half-million dollar) home, but I wouldn't say my little house is "below average." On that fact alone, I deleted myself from their database.
If you value your privacy and what information you want about your personal life showing up on the web, go to Spokeo's website and have yourself removed.
*A very special thanks to I am Mommy for this post and alert!
