As most of you know, I am on vacation this week.  So, while trying to catch up on my magazine subscriptions, I ran across an article on Plastic Jungle.

I immediately dog-eared the page so I could remember to blog about it today.  Plastic Jungle is a website that buys, sells, and trades gift cards!  Such a great idea, and I'm not sure how I've missed out on it all these years.

Two reasons I love this idea and website--(1) I am a teacher (and yes, I'm saying this outloud and no, it doesn't pertain to you if you are reading this!).  Teachers often get gifts that are well, shall we say, "not us."  Sometimes, these gifts can be gift cards to places we never frequent.  I love the idea of being able to trade or sell my gift cards for ones that I can actually use!  Now, I can finally empty out that back pocket in my purse!

(2) I love this website because now I can buy gift cards for less than their actual value!  Gift cards are my gift(s) of choice.  Most of the time, you can't go wrong with a gift card, but one thing is for certain--you can never get a discount on one.  (Heck, I just bought one at Walmart last week, and they charged me tax on it!)  With Plastic Jungle, I can look through the stores they offer on their website and purchase the gift card I want at a 10% - 30% discount!  How great is that?

Here's how selling your card works.  You will need to have a minimum of $25 on your gift card to sell it, and you could receive up to 92% of the balance in return:
