As the legend is told, Lady Godiva rode unclothed on horseback through the streets in protest of the taxation imposed on her townspeople by her husband, the Lord of Coventry.  During her ride, the townspeople stayed indoors to preserve her modesty and thank her for her generosity.  Lady Godiva's courage prevailed and the taxation was lifted.

It is with that notion that GODIVA proudly celebrates the one year anniversary of the Lady GODIVA Program, which celebrates inspirational women around the world.  We support extraordinary women on the national and local level who embody the spirit of Lady Godiva by living her attributes of selflessness, generosity, and leadership.

Celebrating at a National Level

GODIVA will honor Lady GODIVA Honorees who exemplify the values of selflessness, generosity, and leadership on a national or global level.  GODIVA will support these women and their causes through exclusive product offerings, partnerships, and other means up help and dedication.  This program will allow GODIVA to support a variety of causes that are important to women.

We are proud to honor Lauren Bush Lauren, Co-founder and CEO of the social business, FEED, as our first National Lady GODIVA Honoree. L auren and the FEED team have provided over 60 million school meals to children living in 62 countries throughout the world through the United Nationals World Food Programme. Lauren embodies the spirit of Lady Godiva through her commitment to charity and passionate leadership.

Supporting at a Local Level

Again in 2013, GODIVA will recognize and award women in local communities who make a difference every day.  The Local Lady GODIVA nominees will be featured on the Lady GODIVA Program website and through social media channels to inspire others to give back in their own communities.
This year, the Lady GODIVA Program will recognize women making a difference in three categories:
Three Local Lady GODIVA Honorees - one representing each category - will receive a monetary donation toward their organization. One Local Lady GODIVA Honoree will receive $10,000 to support her work. Join in and nominate or vote for a Local Lady GODIVA.
