Grocery Posts

Time to get off my duff and post these things...I am such a procrastinator!

I'll start w/my TWO Publix runs today. One this afternoon and another one again tonight (when I realized I could print off TWO MORE MQs for the bacon on my printer upstairs)! Woot!

Here they are w/my run-downs underneath:

So, here's the deal....had TWO Smithfield MQs for $3 each. Bacon was on sale for $2.50 at Publix today (last day).

That gives me $1 overage, right?

The Lender bagels were on sale for BOGO at $1.99. I had a $.50 MQ (doubled to $1), BUT I found some bagels that were on CLEARANCE for $1.20, which made them only $.60 each.

So, do you see where this is leading?

2 bacons @ $2.50 each = $5 - $6 MQs = $1 OVERAGE
2 bagels @ $.60 each = $1.20 - $1 MQ = .20

OVERAGE OF $.80, right? But, the bagels did not ring up at the BOGO price, so that meant ONE OF THEM WAS FREE! Whoo! Hoo!

So, they ended up not using my bagel coupon and giving me a negative total of $.40! But, when you add tax in, my negative total came down to $.23!

Now, the crazy thing about this trip is that Publix isn't supposed to go into the negatives or give you money back, but the Cust. Svc. Mgr. did the entire thing, so it was all input manually.

His name was Vinny (I love it! A pisan!), and he just smiled the entire time. (I think I'm finding out Vinny's schedule and shopping whenever he's working!)

Thanks Vinny!

*********

Well, that shopping trip this afternoon prodded me into thinking.....

It prodded me into thinking that I could print out TWO MORE bacon MQs on my 2nd printer! So, I went home and printed out 2 more! Woot!

Back to Publix I went tonight after Church--2 more bacons and only 1 bagel bag this time, so I wouldn't have the same situation as this morning:

2 Smithfield Bacons @ $2.50 each = $5 - $6 MQs = $1 OVERAGE
1 Lender's Bagel Bag @ $.60 each = $.60 - $1 MQ = $.40 OVERAGE
1 Gallon Publix Milk @ $2.25 each (to offset negative balance from above) = $2.25

$2.25 - $1.40 = $.85 or $1.07 with tax

GRAND TOTAL = $1.07 - $.23 = $.84

$.84 for 4 Smithfield bacon packs, 3 Lender's bagels bags, and 1 gallon of milk.

Not too shabby for a day's work, huh?

  1. AWESOME!!! Just to let you know that there is also a $.75 PQ in the new booklet "Toss for Cash", so you could have really worked that overage!!! :)
