"You make a living by what you GET. You leave a legacy by what you GIVE."
I love that! We all know this simple truth, but do we all RETAIN it or live it or remember it?
I know I don't. My tithe is on auto-pay, so are the few offerings I have set up.
It really doesn't "hurt" me to give; it's on auto-pilot so to speak. I'm pretty sure that's not what Jesus was referring to when he said, "There is more happiness in giving than in receiving."
We should be givers automatically, but we should also be givers in the moment, when we see a need, when we see a hurt.
"But that’s the exact opposite of the way the world thinks.
Most of the world thinks there’s more happiness in getting. But Jesus does not think like the world. He knows that you are most like him when you are giving, and that produces joy."
I want to produce JOY. Therefore, according to Scripture, I must give more - be more giving. This is not my strong area I'll admit it. I'm more of a stay inside and lock the door kinda girl.
But in light of this morning's reading, I think I'm going to try and be more cognizant of this - be a GIVER. To receive and produce more JOY.
Happy Saturday everybody!
